Reports in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf have claimed an Old Trafford delegation met with Van Gaal earlier this week, in the wake of a Champions’ League defeat against Bayern Munich that ended Moyes’ hopes of having something to show for his debut campaign as United boss.
United denied any such meeting took place, but it is clear Van Gaal is figuring prominently in their thoughts as they deliberate over Moyes’ future.

The signals coming out of Old Trafford had always been that Moyes would have every opportunity to stamp his mark on a new era and would be given until next Christmas, at least, to succeed.
